Architecture is not just a matter of architecture, architectural history or art history. Architecture is a social issue and space is a social production. This essay can be considered as a contribution attempt to rethink narratives on architecture and Mardin and to develop new possibilities for thinking. Academic meetings which started in 2004 gained momentum with the activation of Mardin Artuklu University in 2009. In this study, the papers on the history of architecture and architecture presented in the symposiums on Mardin and in the proceedings books are examined. In these papers, a critical analysis of discourse is made on commonality and differences. In these scientific meetings the papers presented by architects and art historians are mainly discussed around themes on cultural diversity, deterioration and fixation, conservation and cultural heritage, and the meanings attributed to architectural practice.
