Energy Analysis of ISCC Power Plant Under the Climatic Conditions of Hassi R'Mel in Algeria

Year 2025, Issue: Erken Görünüm - Early Pub Issues, 1 - 9

Abstract

Because the Integrated Solar Combined Cycle (ISCC) plays a significant part in the production of electricity, the energy analysis of these plants is highly helpful for increasing the efficiency of systems and reducing the amount of fuel that is used. In this study, four distinct days of the year - each day representing a season - are chosen to analyze the performance of an ISCC power plant, in terms of natural gas consumption and generation of electrical power in Hassi R'Mel, Algeria. The programming was implemented by the Modelica language in the Open Modelica environment. This study was carried out to determine the solar field's efficiency in generating energy and its role in lowering natural gas consumption, which in turn lowers the rate of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. The analysis showed that the power plant's overall thermal efficiency was about 69% on June 21, but between 56% and 61% on the other days. This improvement in performance during periods of sunshine is due to lower fuel consumption thanks to the solar field. The latter helps us avoid emitting about 3712.5 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere throughout the summer, approximately 2103 tons during the autumn months, and approximately 2105 tons during the spring months.
