THE ROLE OF SOCIAL EXCLUSION AND LIFE SATISFACTION IN EXPLAINING QUALITY OF LIFE

Abstract

The aim of this study, investigate the role of social exclusion and life satisfaction on the quality of life. For this aim, 864 voluntary participants answered a questionnaire with the World Health Organization Quality of Life Assessment (WHOQOL), Satisfaction With Life Scale, Social Exclusion Scale, and socio-demographic questions. Logistic regression analysis method was applied in this study. According to the logistic regression results, women have a higher quality of life than men and those with high economic levels have a higher quality of life than those with low economic levels. The life satisfaction variable was found to be a significant variable and it was concluded that individuals with high life satisfaction had a higher quality of life. The social exclusion was evaluated with all its sub-dimensions and it was concluded that it explained the quality of life with its two dimensions. Accordingly these sub-dimensions, it was concluded that those who do not have a suitable house and secure environment conditions have a lower quality of life and those who have high social participation have a high quality of life. Ampric results showed that life satisfaction, economic status, and some sub-dimensions of social exclusion playing an important role in explaining the quality of life.

YAŞAM KALİTESİNİ AÇIKLAMADA SOSYAL DIŞLANMA VE YAŞAM TATMİNİNİN ROLÜ

Abstract

Bu çalışmada bireylerin yaşam kalitesini açıklamada sosyo-demografik değişkenlerin yanı sıra, sosyal dışlanma ve yaşam tatminin rolünün ortaya çıkarılması amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla katılımcılara Yaşam Kalitesi, Sosyal Dışlanma, Yaşam Tatmini ölçeklerinin ve sosyo-demografik soruların yer aldığı bir anket formu verilmiştir. Gönüllü olarak 864 kişinin katıldığı bu çalışmada veriler ikili lojistik regresyon ile analiz edilmiştir. Analiz sonucuna göre kadınların yaşam kalitesinin erkeklere göre daha yüksek olduğu, ekonomik düzeyi yüksek olanların yaşam kalitesinin ekonomik düzeyi düşük olanlara göre daha yüksek olduğu, yaşam tatmini yüksek olanların yaşam kalitesinin yaşam tatmini düşük olanlara göre daha yüksek olduğu sonuçları elde edilmiştir. Bunun yanı sıra sosyal dışlanma bağlamında sosyal katılımcılığı düşük olan bireylerin yaşam kalitesinin daha düşük olduğu ve uygun ev ve çevre koşullarına sahip olmanın bireylerin yaşam kalitesini arttırdığı sonuçları elde edilmiştir. Bu sonuçlar sosyal dışlanmanın bazı boyutlarının, yaşam tatmininin ve ekonomik durumun yaşam kalitesini açıklamada önemli rol oynadığını göstermiştir.
