Abstract
In this study, the opinions of science teachers working in different cities of the country on practice were examined. Within the scope of this purpose, an interview form consisting of open-ended questions was shared online with 50 teachers. The answers from the teachers were analyzed with the content analysis technique. As a result of the research, it is thought that the application of the career development system will contribute to the teacher's professional development and increase his motivation. Even if teachers advocate that there are career development systems, they argue that it should be determined according to the seniority of the teacher, not by the success of the exam. In addition, it was stated that there were some concerns that the career development system would segregate teachers, discredit them, and cause inequality among them. It is even thought that this separation will lead to the selection of the teacher by the parents. Teachers also stated that there are many deficiencies in the training and exams given to be selected for the career development system. First of all, instead of giving long, boring, and monotonous training over the internet, it is necessary to conduct face-to-face and branch-based training, and exams should be done according to the branch in the same way. In addition to all these criticisms about the practice of career advancement in teaching, the researchers made some suggestions for the process to progress healthily.
