Abstract

Bu makalede Pop Art sanatçısı David Hockney’in resimlerinin dijital olanaklar -Fotokolaj, iPhone, iPad, vb.- içerisinde nasıl geliştiği ve teknolojinin çağdaş sanata katkıları üzerine bir araştırmaya odaklanılmıştır. Çalışmada ayrıca Hockney’in iPad ile yaptığı resimler ile geleneksel yöntemlerle oluşturduğu eserler arasındaki ilişki incelenmektedir. Teknolojik ekipmanların kullanılmasının sanatçıya ve üretimi aşamalarına ne gibi avantajlar sağladığı ve eserlerinde ne gibi sonuçlara yol açtığı örnekler ile irdelenmektedir. Makalenin birinci bölümünde, David Hockney’in sanat hayatı ve eğilimleri hakkında genel bir inceleme yapıldıktan sonra, ikinci bölümünde fotokolaj ve dijital resimlerinin tuval resimleri ile ilişkisi ve onu bu medyaları kullanma sebepleri analiz edilmiştir. “Sanatçıya kullandığı yöntemler ne gibi avantajlar sağlamıştır?” “Dijital resimleri ile tuval resimleri arasındaki benzer yönler nelerdir?” gibi sorulara yanıtlar aranmıştır. Makalenin son bölümünde ise Hockney’in kendi içinde yaşadığı bu sanatsal döngünün sonuçları ve kullandığı farklı ekipmanların çağdaş sanata katkılarının neler olduğu tespit etmek amaçlanmıştır.

The Art of David Hockney in the Context of Digital Painting

Abstract

This article examines the Pop Art artist David Hockney's paintings focusing specifically on his relationship with specific technological devices such as Photocollage, iPhone, iPad, etc. The central point of this article is how technology has an effect on his contemporary art practice. The study also examines the relationship between Hockney's paintings with iPad and the works he created with traditional methods. I ask how the use of technological equipment affects the artist and his production stages and the results of his engagement with digital tools. In the first part of the article, after a general examination of David Hockney's artistic career and trends, the second part focuses on the relationship of photocollage and digital paintings with canvas paintings and the reasons that push him to use media. “How did the methods he used affect the artist’s creation process?” “What are the similarities between digital paintings and canvas paintings?” In the last part of the article, I determine the results of Hockney’s artistic process and his contributions to contemporary art.
