Kazak-Kırgız Aydınların Yazıları Bağlamında 1916 Ürkün Katliamı

Öz

Bu çalışma, 1916 Ürkün Katliamı'nı, Kazak ve Kırgız aydınlarının yazıları bağlamında inceleyerek, bu trajik olayın tarihsel, sosyal ve siyasi dinamiklerini ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır. Ürkün Katliamı'nın literatürdeki yeri ve uluslararası toplum tarafından nasıl kategorize edilmesi gerektiği konusundaki belirsizlikler, olayın bir katliam mı, soykırım mı yoksa savaş suçu mu olduğu tartışmalarını beraberinde getirmektedir. Araştırmanın temel problemi, Kazak-Kırgız aydınlarının Ürkün Katliamı'na dair yazılarında bu olayı nasıl tasvir ettikleri, hangi kavramlarla tanımladıkları ve bu yazıların milli bilinç ile kimlik oluşumuna nasıl katkı sağladığıdır. Ayrıca, söz konusu aydınların yazılarının dönemin sömürgecilik karşıtı söylemlerini nasıl beslediği de ele alınmaktadır. Bu soruları yanıtlamak için nitel araştırma yöntemi, özellikle Cusup Abdrahmanov ve Turar Rıskulov gibi dönemin önemli Kazak-Kırgız aydınlarının yazıları üzerinden betimleyici ve karşılaştırmalı analiz teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Çalışma, 1916 Ürkün Katliamı'nın aydınların yazılarında yalnızca bir trajedi olarak değil, aynı zamanda milli bilinç ve direniş ruhunun bir sembolü olarak yansıtıldığı ve sömürgecilik karşıtı bir duruşun benimsendiği yönünde bir hipotez ortaya koymaktadır. Bulgular, Rus Çarlığı'nın bölgedeki yayılmacı politikalarının, toprak gasplarının ve zorunlu askerlik uygulamasının Ürkün'e zemin hazırladığını göstermektedir. Cusup Abdrahmanov, yaşananları "katliam" veya "yok etme politikası" olarak tanımlarken, Rus yerleşimcilerin savunmasız Kırgızlara yönelik şiddetini ve çarlık hükümetinin yok etme politikasını vurgulamıştır. Turar Rıskulov da benzer şekilde olayların ciddiyetini dile getirmiştir. Sonuç olarak, 1916 Ürkün Faciası, sömürgeci baskıların ve direnişlerin bir sonucu olarak ortaya çıkmış, Kırgız ulusal kimliğinin güçlenmesinde ve tarihsel hafızanın oluşumunda kritik bir rol oynamıştır.

1916 Ürkün Massacre: An Examination in the Context of Kazakh-Kyrgyz Intellectuals' Writings

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the historical, social, and political dynamics of the 1916 Ürkün Massacre by examining it through the writings of Kazakh and Kyrgyz intellectuals. The ambiguities surrounding the Ürkün Massacre's place in literature and how it should be categorized by the international community lead to discussions on whether the event was a massacre, genocide, or war crime. The main problem of the research is how Kazakh-Kyrgyz intellectuals depicted this event in their writings on the Ürkün Massacre, with what concepts they defined it, and how these writings contributed to the formation of national consciousness and identity. Additionally, how the writings of these intellectuals fueled anti-colonial discourses of the period is also addressed. To answer these questions, a qualitative research method, specifically descriptive and comparative analysis techniques, was used through the writings of prominent Kazakh-Kyrgyz intellectuals of the period such as Jusup Abdrahmanov and Turar Ryskulov. The study hypothesizes that the 1916 Ürkün Massacre is reflected in the writings of intellectuals not only as a tragedy but also as a symbol of national consciousness and spirit of resistance, adopting an anti-colonial stance. Findings indicate that the expansionist policies of the Russian Tsarist regime in the region, land seizures, and forced conscription laid the groundwork for the Ürkün. Jusup Abdrahmanov defined the events as a "massacre" or "annihilation policy," emphasizing the violence against defenseless Kyrgyz people by Russian settlers and the tsarist government's policy of extermination. Turar Ryskulov similarly expressed the gravity of the events. Consequently, the 1916 Ürkün Massacre emerged as a result of colonial pressures and resistance, playing a critical role in strengthening Kyrgyz national identity and shaping historical memory.
