COVID-19’dan Korunma Önlemi: Para Yıkama

Year 2022, Volume: 7 Issue: 1, 17 - 21, 31.01.2022

Abstract

COVID-19 Protection Measure: Washing Money

Year 2022, Volume: 7 Issue: 1, 17 - 21, 31.01.2022

Abstract

Objective: This article examines money washing behavior to prevent COVID-19 transmission.

Material and Method: The data of the study were collected online from İzmir Katip Çelebi University Health Services Vocational School students in the fall term of 2020- 2021. 360 people participated in the study. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 20 program, descriptive statistics were presented, and chi-square tests were performed.

Results: According to the results, 95.3% of the participants thought that they can be infected with bacteria, viruses, etc. through money, 26.4% of them cleaned the money after shopping, 75.8% did the cleaning using only disinfectants, 77.9% stated that there was damage to the money after cleaning it. A statistically significant relationship was found between those who think that bacteria, viruses, etc., can spread from person to person through money and their grade levels. It has been concluded that there is a statistically significant relationship between cleaning the money after shopping and variables such as the student's program of study, their gender, mother's education level, the place where they live the longest, and the income status of their families.

Conclusion: According to the results of this research, which examines the money washing behavior to prevent COVID-19 transmission, the sample widely accepts that microorganisms could spread through money. In order to avoid this transmission, 1/4 of the sample is washing money after shopping.
