The Effects of Health Literacy on Women's Health: A Systematic Review

Abstract

Objective: The aim of the study is to systematically review the current information and studies on the relationship between health literacy and women's health knowledge, behaviors, and outcomes.
Material and Method: Between 2016-2021, PubMed, Cochrane, Science Direct, and Google Scholar databases were searched using the keywords "Health literacy", "Women's health", and "Reproductive health".
Results: Of the 16,646 articles reached, 20 articles meeting the inclusion criteria were included in the study. Conclusion: It has been determined that women's health literacy levels have a positive effect on cancer prevention, preconceptional care, adequate prenatal and postnatal care, breastfeeding, regular health checkups, and physical activity levels.

Sağlık Okuryazarlığının Kadın Sağlığı Üzerine Etkileri: Bir Sistematik Derleme

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı; sağlık okuryazarlığı ile kadınların sağlık bilgisi, davranışları ve sonuçları arasındaki ilişki hakkında güncel bilgi ve çalışmaları sistematik olarak incelemektir.
Gereç ve Yöntem: 2016-2021 yılları arasında PubMed, Cochrane, Science Direct ve Google Scholar veri tabanlarında “Health literacy”, “Women’s health”, “Reproductive health” anahtar sözcükleri kullanılarak tarama yapılmıştır. Bulgular: Ulaşılan 16.646 makaleden dâhil edilme kriterlerine uyan 20 makale çalışma kapsamına alınmıştır.
Sonuç: Kadınların sağlık okuryazarlığı düzeylerinin kanserden korunma, prekonsepsiyonel bakım alma, yeterli doğum öncesi ve doğum sonrası bakım alma, emzirme, düzenli sağlık kontrollerini yaptırma ve fiziksel aktivite düzeylerini olumlu yönde etkilediği belirlenmiştir.
