Peer-review Process

Manuscripts submitted to Tokat ilmiyat journal are ready for publication in four stages: pre-checking/evaluation, evaluation, editing and publication.

Pre-Check/Evaluation
• Manuscripts submitted to the Tokat ilmiyat journal are required to be an original article that will fill a gap in the field or a review that evaluates previously published studies and presents new and remarkable views on this subject. Submitted articles are primarily examined for compliance with the journal's editorial policy and principles. Articles are also examined in terms of form. Articles that do not comply with the publication and writing principles are returned to the author for re-submission with the necessary corrections. As a result of this preliminary review, the article may be rejected by the journal editor in the pre-checking step. In another step, the articles received by the journal are subjected to an internal refereeing process. In this process, the manuscript is sent to at least one referee, mostly among the academics serving on the journal boards. With the opinion of the referee(s) and the editor's decision, it is decided whether the manuscript will be included in the publication process.
After the internal refereeing process, the manuscripts are scanned for plagiarism. Manuscripts are checked for plagiarism using a special plagiarism detection program. Articles submitted for publication are checked for plagiarism using a special program (iThenticate - Plagiarism Prevention Program). This program confirms that the articles have not been published before and do not contain plagiarism.
Authors submitting articles to Tokat ilmiyat journal are deemed to have declared that they have not committed any ethical violations. The works of authors who are found to have plagiarized through the iThenticate program are not included in our journals. A report on this topic will be sent to the author.

Evaluation
• After pre-checking, the article is forwarded to the field editor by the editor. The field editor sends the manuscripts to at least two referees in the relevant field. The names of the referees are kept confidential and the reports are kept for five years. If two of the referee reports are positive, the article is accepted. In cases where two referees reject at the same time or one of them gives a major rejection and the other a minor rejection, the manuscript is rejected. In cases where one of the reports is positive or minor correction and the other is negative or major correction, the manuscript may be sent to a third referee. Articles submitted to our journal can be published with the decision of at least two referees. The Editorial Board can make the final decision by reviewing all referee reports.
Double blind refereeing is applied in the Tokat ilmiyat journal. Academic quality and impartiality are the most important criteria in this evaluation process. The refereeing process uses a two-way blind refereeing system in which the identities of referees and authors are kept confidential to each other. Referee names are kept strictly confidential (referees and authors do not know each other's identities).
• Referees are given 4 weeks for the peer review process.

Correction
• Authors are obliged to complete the necessary corrections within 1 month, taking into account the feedback of the Referees and Editorial Board. Articles that receive a positive report from the referees are directed to the editing step. Authors take into account the criticisms and suggestions of the referees and the Editorial Board. If they disagree, they have the right to object with their reasons.
• Abstract and Summary sections for Turkish texts and Abstract, Abstract, Turkish Abstract and Summary sections for texts written in other languages are grammatically checked. Corrected texts are sent back to the authors.

Publication
Articles that pass technical and academic reviews are examined by the Editorial Board and the final publication status is decided. In this step, language control, editing and proofreading processes are carried out by the relevant persons under the guidance of the editor. In case of objection from the members, the Board decides by majority vote.
• The studies decided to be published by the Editorial Board are made ready for publication by typesetting and layout.
• The works whose layout processes are completed are published in the journal after the final reading process.
The publication process of the accepted work takes 2-4 months from the date of receipt of the work.
