Mukâtil b. Süleyman’ın Yaşadığı Coğrafyanın Tefsirine Olan Etkisi

Öz

Öz Bu makalede Mukâtil b. Süleyman’ın (ö. 150/767) tefsirindeki tevhid vurgusu incelenmekte ve söz konusu vurgunun gerekçesi ortaya konmaktadır. Tefsirdeki tevhid vurgusunun genel itibarıyla iki türde tezahür ettiği tespit edilmektedir. Bunlar müfessirin lafızlara doğrudan tevhid anlamı verdiği ve dolaylı olarak tevhide hamlettiği kısımlardır. Mukâtil’in tevhid temasını, tefsirinin temel konularından biri haline getirdiği anlaşılmaktadır. Makalede müfessirin doğup büyüdüğü coğrafyada hâkim olan dinî kültürün onu tevhid vurgusuna sevk ettiği iddia edilmektedir. Mukâtil’in memleketi Belh, İslam fetihlerinden önce Budizm’in önemli uğrak noktalarından biridir. Nevbahâr gibi meşhur Budist tapınağının Belh’te bulunması, bu tapınaktaki putların çeşitli mücevherlerle süslenmesi ve Çinli Budist seyyah ve hacıların dinî ve ilmî gayelerle burayı ziyaret etmeleri Belh ve Budizm ilişkisini gösteren verilerdir. Müslüman müellifler nezdinde Budizm, tevhidin karşıtı olan şirke tekabül etmektedir. Mukâtil’in yaşadığı çağda o coğrafyada Budist etkiler varlığını sürdürmektedir. Müfessirin tevhid vurguları, bu arka plan bilgisiyle anlaşılır hale gelmektedir. Makalede tefsir muhtevasını şekillendiren bir unsur olması hasebiyle coğrafyanın etkisini göstermek amaçlanmaktadır. Araştırmada metin analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır.

The Effect of the Geography of Muqātil b. Sulaymān Homeland on His Tafsīr

Abstract

Abstract In this article, the emphasis on tawḥīd in Muqātil b. Sulaymān’s (d. 150/767) tafsīr is analysed and the justification for this emphasis is put forward. It is determined that the emphasis on tawḥīd in tafsīr is generally manifested in two types. These are the parts in which the commentator directly gives the meaning of tawḥīd to the words and the parts in which he indirectly refers to tawḥīd. It is understood that Muqātil made the theme of tawḥīd one of the main topics of his tafsīr. The article argues that the religious culture dominant in the geography where the commentator was born and raised led him to emphasise tawḥīd. Muqātil’s hometown, Balkh, was one of the important centres of Buddhism before the Islamic conquests. The presence of the famous Buddhist temple of Nawbahar in Balkh, the adornment of the idols in this temple with various jewels, and the visits of Chinese Buddhist travellers and pilgrims for religious and scholarly purposes are data showing the relationship between Balkh and Buddhism. In the eyes of Muslim authors, Buddhism corresponds to shirk, which is the opposite of monotheism. In Muqātil’s time, Buddhist influences continued to exist in that geography. The commentator's emphasis on tawḥīd becomes comprehensible with this background information. In this article, it is aimed to show the effect of geography as it is an element that shapes the content of tafsīr. Text analysis method is used in the research.
