MODERN DİN ALGISI: AHLAKİ TERAPÖTİK DEİZM

Abstract

Deizm olgusu günümüzde din bilimleri alanında çokça tartışılan konulardan biridir. Bu bağlamda deizmin mahiyeti ve tarihi seyri akademik çalışmalarda sıkça tartışılmakta araştırmacılar tarafından bu konu üzerinde fikir birliğine varılamamaktadır. Deizm konusu akılcılığın ve reform hareketlerinin ortaya çıkışından itibaren gün yüzüne çıkmaya başlamıştır. Deizmin mahiyeti ve tarihi serüveni tartışılmadan deizm hakkında yapılacak bir çalışma konunun tam anlamı ile anlaşılmasını imkânsız kılmaktadır. Deizmin temel iddiaları ve tarihi gelişimi incelendikten sonra ülkemizde ve dünyada yaygınlaşması üzerine durulacaktır. Son olarak Ahlaki Terapötik Deizm kavramı incelenip bu konudaki tartışmalar değerlendirilecektir. Bu makale resmi istatistiki verilerden de yararlanılarak literatür tarama tekniğine göre yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın temel amacı deizmin tarihi süreçte aldığı şekilleri ortaya koymak, ülkemizde ve farklı coğrafyalarda deizmin yaygınlaşmasının altında nedenleri bulmak ve günümüzde gençler arasında etkili olan ATD’i araştırmaktır. Çalışma bu haliyle ülkemizde hakkında yeterli kaynak bulunmayan ATD konusu özelinde literatüre zenginlik katacaktır. Çalışma sonucuna göre, modern deizme yöneliş ülkemizde ve Batı toplumlarında artış göstermektedir. Ek olarak, kendini deist olarak tanımlamayan belirgin yetişkinler yaşam tarzı ve inanç şekli açısından ahlaki terapötik deistik inançlara yönelmektedirler. Gençler bu yaklaşıma göre sorunlarla karşılaştıklarında dua ve ibadet etmekte ancak kişisel işleri ve yaşamlarına kurumsal dinin taleplerinin müdahalesini istememektedirler. Gençler, ahlaki anlamda iyi olan insanların hangi dine mensup olurlarsa olsunlar cennete gideceklerine inanmakta ve temel dini öğretilere uzak durmaktadırlar. ATD Hıristiyan Batı toplumlarında yaygınlaşan ahlaki terapötik deistik yaklaşımın Türkiye’de de gider etkili olmaya başladığı anlaşılmaktadır.

Modern Perception of Religion: Moral Therapeutic Deism

Abstract

The phenomenon of deism is one of the extensively debated topics in the field of religious studies today. In this context, the nature and historical course of deism are frequently discussed in academic studies, and researchers have not reached a consensus on this subject. The concept of deism began to emerge with the rise of rationalism and reform movements. A study on deism without discussing its nature and historical journey makes it impossible to fully understand the subject. After examining the fundamental claims and historical development of deism, the focus will be on its prevalence in our country and worldwide. Lastly, the concept of Moral Therapeutic Deism will be explored, and discussions on this topic will be evaluated. This article is based on official statistical data and conducted using literature review techniques. The main purpose of the study is to highlight the various forms deism has taken throughout its historical process, identify the reasons behind the prevalence of deism in our country and different regions, and investigate the influence of MTD among young people today. In its current form, this study will contribute richness to the literature on the specific topic of MTD, which lacks sufficient sources in our country. According to the study's findings, there is an increasing inclination towards modern deism in our country and Western societies. Additionally, distinct adults who do not identify themselves as deists are turning towards moral therapeutic deistic beliefs in terms of lifestyle and belief. According to this approach, young people tend to pray and worship when facing problems but do not want institutional religious demands to interfere with their personal affairs and lives. They believe that morally good individuals, regardless of their religious affiliation, will go to heaven and tend to stay away from fundamental religious teachings. It is understood that the morally therapeutic deistic approach that has become widespread in Christian Western societies, is also starting to have an impact in Turkey.
