Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

1. The Istanbul Medeniyet University Faculty of Law Journal adheres to national and international academic principles and ethical values in its publishing policy.
2. The journal's publishing policy aligns with international ethical publishing principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA), and World Association of Medical Editors (WAME). These are supplemented at the national level by the principles outlined in the Turkish Council of Higher Education (YÖK) "Directive on Scientific Research and Publication Ethics."
3. Manuscripts determined to violate the academic principles and ethical values accepted by the editorial board, either before or during the article evaluation process, will be rejected. If such violations are identified after publication, the respective article will be retracted.
4. The Istanbul Medeniyet University Faculty of Law Journal (IMUFLJ) is a peer-reviewed journal published twice a year, in March and September.
5. Articles submitted to the journal must not have been previously published or submitted elsewhere for publication. Submission of an article to the journal constitutes the author’s commitment to this condition.
6. The Istanbul Medeniyet University Faculty of Law Journal adopts an open access policy and provides free access to all its content. Readers can read, copy, download, search, and link to full-text articles in the journal without obtaining permission from the publisher or authors, provided it is for non-commercial purposes.
7. Articles submitted to the journal must include an abstract of 200–250 words. The abstract should be followed by five keywords, chosen preferably from relevant field indexes, in the languages of the abstract. In addition to an abstract in the article's original language, an English abstract is also required.
From the September 2025 issue onwards, all articles must include an Extended Summary of 750–1000 words.
8. Manuscripts should be prepared using Microsoft Word, with the main text in Times New Roman, 12-point font, and 1.5 line spacing. Footnotes should be in Times New Roman, 10-point font, single-spaced, and justified. Page margins should be set as follows on A4-sized paper: top and left margins (4 cm), bottom and right margins (3 cm). Manuscripts should be submitted to the editor via CD or email.
9. The title of the manuscript should be in black and all capital letters. The author’s name should be placed immediately below the title, aligned to the right. A superscript footnote symbol (*) should be added to the end of the author’s surname, and the footnote should include the author’s institution, title, ORCID number, and contact information (email address).
10. Authors should provide their titles, institutional affiliations, contact addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses.
11. Articles submitted by authors are assumed to have been checked and are considered ready for publication in their submitted state. Articles found to be non-compliant with the journal’s publishing principles during the initial review by the editorial board will be returned to the authors for revision before being sent to reviewers.
12. Articles that pass the editorial board's preliminary review will be sent to two expert reviewers for evaluation through a double-blind peer review process, where the author’s identity is removed from the manuscript. Articles will be published only if approved by both reviewers. If one reviewer provides a negative evaluation, a third reviewer will be consulted, and their decision will be final. Authors will not be informed about the identity of the reviewers.
13. If revisions are requested in the reviewer report, the author will be allowed to make changes only within the scope of the requested revisions. Based on the reviewer’s report, the editorial board will decide whether to publish the article, request revisions, or reject the article. The author will be notified of the decision promptly.
