Article Evaluation Process

Istanbul Medipol University Faculty of Law Review, published in Turkish, English, French, and German; It is an academic and peer-reviewed journal published twice a year. In accordance with the purpose and scope of the journal, articles of law and interdisciplinary nature related to law, review of the judgment, and legislative evaluation can be sent to the journal for publication.

The manuscripts submitted to the Journal for publication;

1. The prepared manuscripts must be uploaded to the system via “DERGİPARK” or sent via e-mail (hukukfakultesidergisi@medipol.edu.tr) to the editorial board in word format (.doc, .docx) in accordance with the grammar rules, academic writing criteria, and publication principles. If the manuscript is sent via e-mail, the author must provide the institution, contact address, telephone number and e-mail address.
2. Only those manuscripts approved by its every individual author and that were not published before in or sent to another journal, are accepted for evaluation.
3. The authors acknowledge and undertake that the manuscript is not published elsewhere or presented for publishing and that the text, figures and documents in the manuscript do not violate the copyrights of other persons.
4. The authors acknowledge that all publication rights and financial rights on the published manuscript, including any format, belong to Istanbul Medipol University Faculty of Law. The author acknowledged that no royalties will be paid for the manuscript submitted to the journal for publication.
5. After the manuscript is sent to the Journal for publication, without the written consent of all authors the names of any authors cannot be deleted from the list of authors, and a new name cannot be added as an author and the order of the author cannot be changed.
6. The manuscripts that pass the preliminary examination stage are examined in the TURNITIN plagiarism program. Manuscripts with a similarity rate above 20% are directly rejected by the Editorial Board.
7. In the preliminary examination phase, the manuscripts whose grammar mistakes are above the usual or that the academic writing criteria are not followed are returned to the author for necessary corrections. Requested corrections must be completed within 7 days. Otherwise, the Editorial Board has the right to reject the manuscript without contacting the author.
8. The manuscripts that are found suitable in the preliminary examination stage are sent to the reviewers for double-blind review evaluation. Double-blind reviewing means keeping the authors confidential from the reviewers and the reviewers from the authors in order to ensure an objective and independent evaluation process. The manuscripts are sent to the reviewers anonymously and the reviewers are not informed about the identity of the authors. The names of the reviewers who made the evaluation are not mentioned in the reports and the journal due to the double-blind method. Referees cannot contact the authors directly, during this process, evaluation forms and referee reports are submitted to the author through the Editorial Board.
9. The manuscripts submitted for publication in the journal are not published without the positive opinions of the reviewers (two reviewers) who are kept confidential or without providing a new text containing the corrections suggested by the reviewers. In line with the report from the reviewers, it is decided to publish, correct or reject the article. The author is informed of the evaluation result as soon as possible by the Editorial Board. Authors are immediately informed about the works that are not accepted or rejected.
10. The deadline for the authors to complete the corrections stated in the evaluation report sent by the reviewer is 15 days. If the author does not complete the corrections within 15 days, the Editorial Board has the right to reject the manuscript without contacting the author.
11. The period given to the reviewers for evaluation is 20 days, and this period can be extended for another 20 days in case of necessity. If the reviewer evaluation report is not sent within the time limit, the Editorial Board has the authority to appoint a new reviewer.
12. As a result of the reviewer evaluation phase; If a reviewer gives a positive opinion that the manuscript is suitable for publication and the second reviewer gives a negative opinion that the work is not suitable for publication, the work is sent to a third reviewer as soon as possible.
13. IMUFLR undertakes to publish the manuscripts that have been accepted by completing the referee evaluation process

Reviewers’ comments on the following aspects are expected while conducting the review;

• The manuscript must be original and new,
• The title and content of the manuscript must be compatible,
• The language used in the manuscript is sufficiently clear, understandable and in accordance with the language and spelling rules,
• The manuscript plan in the work has been set up correctly,
• The manuscript is in accordance with scientific writing and citation procedures,
• The subject presented in the manuscript is sufficient in terms of explanation and scientific discussion.
