Abstract
Nurses' professional values and care behaviors, which are accepted as the basis of nursing, have come to the fore in intensive care units where COVID-19 patients are mostly treated. Therefore, this research has been conducted as a descriptive study to examine the professional values and care behaviors of nurses working in the COVID-19 intensive care unit, giving care to patients with a diagnosis of COVID-19. The study has been conducted with 60 nurses working in the COVID-19 intensive care unit of a Research Hospital. The data have been collected based on nurses' self-reports by using a questionnaire containing sociodemographic data, Professional Values scale and Caring Behaviors-24 scale. In the study, it has been found that; 34.9% of the nurses felt anxiety, 28.4% felt burnout during the pandemic process, the mean scores of care behaviors (5.00 ± 0.58) and professional values scale (128.35±16.67) were high, and there was a moderately significant positive relationship between them (r=0.429 p=0.001). As a result, it is recommended to plan trainings for nurses about the professional values and care behaviors of intensive care nurses and to conduct more comprehensive research on this subject.
