This research has been carried out descriptively, in order to determine the attitudes of students studying in the field of health services towards the elderly and the factors effecting these attitudes. The sample of the study is consisted of 180 students studying at the departments of Elderly Care, Medical Promotion and Marketing, and Medical Documentation and Secretariat in Health Services Vocational School of a university in the fall semester of 2019-2020 academic year and volunteered to participate in the study. The data of the study have been collected by using the Participant Information Form and the UCLA Geriatrics Attitudes Scale / UCLA-GA. In the research it has been determined that, of the participants; 75.6% were female, mean age was 19.90±2.90, 60% were at 1st grade, 77.2% were living in a nuclear family, 50.0% had lived in the same house with an elderly relatively in some part of their lives, only 40.0% of them had visited a nursing home before. The total average score of the UCLA-GA scale is 48.55 ± 5.18. The subscale means have been determined as; 6.13±1.49 for social values, 12.22 ± 2.43 for medical care, 15.71± 2.90 for compassion and 14.47 ± 2.30 for resource distribution. No significant difference has been determined in mean scores of the participants in terms of socio-demographic features and UCLA Geriatrics Attitudes Scale. When the studied departments are evaluated, the participants from Medical Promotion and Marketing department got higher scores than the participants of Medical Documentation and Secretariat department at social values subscale, the participants of Elderly Care department got higher scores than the participants of Medical Promotion Marketing department at compassion subscale. According to the findings of the research it has been determined that, the students of Health Services departments had medium level positive attitudes towards elderly individuals, and their sociodemographic features did not cause any difference in their attitudes towards elderly individuals.
