Child abuse emerges as an important problem both in the world and in our country. Unfortunately, most of the abuse cases are carried out by the parents of the children. Parents exploit their children sometimes intensionally and sometimes unintensionally. However, the family responsible for the care and protection of the child should be conscious about child abuse in order to protect future generations and develop a healthy society. Based on this idea, it has been aimed to investigate the abuse awareness levels of mothers with children in the preschool period in terms of their abused childhood experiences and some variables. The study group of the research is consisted of a total of 252 mothers whose children attend a private preschool education institution located in the city center of Gümüşhane. The research data have been collected with "Personal Information Form", "Abuse Awareness Scale Parent Form" and "Childhood Trauma Scale". The collected data have been analyzed by Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis H test and Spearman Correlation test. As the result of the research; age, education level, partner education level, child’s order of birth and duration of the kindergarten attendment have been determined to cause a significant difference in the level of awareness of the mothers. It has been found that there is a significant relationship between the Abuse Awareness Scale Parent Form and all sub-dimensions of Childhood Trauma Scale.
