Neonatal Intensive Care Units are quite complex and intensive units. Mostly, high-risk newborns such as premature babies are hospitalized in these units and the length of stay is also quite long. They are exposed to many medical treatments during their hospitalization. The reasons as the use of various medicines in newborn, different drug preparation and administration methods and the high density of neonatal units, cause neonatal nurses to make drug administration errors. Drug administration error is any preventable event that could result in improper medication use of healthcare professional or patient, or harm of the patient. The most frequently reported drug administration error type in newborn patients is wrong dosage administration. In line with professional nursing roles, the drug requested by the physician should be questioned and, if necessary, should be confirmed again. Nurses are required to know the laws, regulations and responsibilities related to drug administration error.
