Our aim in this study is to retrospectively investigate the presence of IgM and IgG type antibodies against Cytomegalovirus in children aged 0-18 years and to determine the seroprevalence rates. In this study, the results of people who were examined for different reasons and whose CMV IgM-IgG serology was investigated by family physicians in Erzurum center in 2018-2019 were evaluated retrospectively. Blood serums from the patients were studied in the Public Health Serology Laboratory with the ELISA method in the Architect I2000 device in accordance with the company's working procedure. According to the the kit manufacturer's recommendations, test results were considered as, for CMV IgM; <0.85 index negative, 0.85-0.99 index intermediate,> 0.99 index positive, for CMV IgG; <5.99 AU / ml negative, > 5.99 AU / ml positive. In the study group, anti-CMV IgG seropositivity was found as 95.7% (491/513) and anti-CMV IgM seropositivity was found as 2.4% (13/546). CMV IgG and IgM positivity were respectively 96.7% and 2.4% in girls, 92.6% and 2.4% in boys. Anti-CMV IgG positivity rates were higher among girls. In our study, anti-CMV IgG seropositivity in 0-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-15 and 16-18 age groups were 94.7%, 69.6%, 100%, 97.5%, 88.2% and 99.3%, respectively. Also, anti-CMV IgM seropositivity in same age groups were 10.5%, 0, 0, 2.4%, 4.4% and 1.7%. CMV seropositivity rates were high in children of our study group. This result shows that children in our region are exposed to CMV pathogen at an early age (congenital or acquired).
