This study has been conducted to compare the pregnancy-related stress of primiparas and multiparas in terms of sociodemographic characteristics. This descriptive study has been carried out in a private hospital in Adana between May-July 2019. A total of 140 pregnant women between the ages of 18-45 who did not have any written or verbal communication disability have been included in the study. The data have been collected using the "Pregnancy Stress Assessment Scale-36". The relationship between pregnancy-specific stress levels and sociodemographic findings have been evaluated. Identifying statistics, Independent Sample t-test, ANOVA test, Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis H tests, and Bonferroni correction have been applied in the evaluation of data. The mean of Pregnancy Stress Assessment Scale-36 was significantly higher in primiparas than multiparas (p=0.001). The means of all sub-dimensions of the scale were also higher in primiparas than multiparas (p=0.005, p=0.001, p<0.001, p <0.001, p=0.001, respectively). It was observed that the profession of partner (p=0.044) in primiparas, and age in multiparas (p=0.033) were associated with perinatal stress scores. Pregnancy-related stress levels in primiparas are higher than multiparous. Some sociodemographic characteristics may have an effect on gestational stress levels. It is important for all healthcare professionals, especially midwives, to always consider and follow the pregnancy related stress, in order to prevent negative fetomaternal consequences.
