In this descriptive research, the relationship between self-efficacy-competence levels and academic achievement of nursing students was investigated. The universe of the study was composed of the students of Siirt University School of Health Nursing Department (N=550). The research sample was completed with 342 students who agreed to participate. An individual identification form and the Self-Efficacy-Competence Scale (SECS) were used for collecting data. Descriptive statistics, t test, ANOVA and Pearson correlation analysis were used for the evaluation of data. In the research, it has been found that; the mean age of students was 21.20 ±2.46, 50% were female, 36% were studying in the first grade, 61.7% chose nursing profession willingly, 36% did not find theoretical courses adequate, 74.6% did not find applied courses adequate, 45.9% had grade averages between 71-80, 40.6% felt partially successful, 34.5% thought environment affected their achievement, 58.8% had relaxed, calm, disciplined and non-responsible personality characteristics. While the SECS total mean score was detected 84.64±11.95, the mean scores in SECS sub-dimensions were determined as; 30.47±5.55 in starting behavior, 26.07±4.58 in maintaining behavior, 18.80±3.94 in completing behavior, and 9.29±2.41 in struggling with obstacles. 2nd grade students' SECS total mean scores were higher than other class students. In the research, it was determined that average score of students' SECS levels (except for the total SECS and struggling with obstacles) were above the average. A positive correlation was found between the scores of the SECS total and completing behavior sub-dimension, and the average grade of the courses.
