İŞ SAĞLIĞI VE GÜVENLİĞİ BAĞLAMINDA İLK YARDIM EĞİTİMLERİNİN DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ: YOUTUBE VİDEOLARININ ANALİZİ

Abstract

Bu çalışmada iş sağlığı ve güvenliği bağlamında YouTube’da yer alan ilk yardım eğitim videolarının etkinliğinin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Bu nedenle günümüzde en çok tercih edilen ikinci sosyal medya platformu olan YouTube’da ilk yardım eğitimi hakkında en fazla görüntülenmeye sahip 50 video incelenmiştir. Videolar görüntülenme sayısı, video uzunluğu, beğenme sayısı, yorum sayısı, video paylaşım tarihleri ve “HONcode Kriterleri’’ne göre değerlendirilmiştir. Videolara ilişkin betimsel istatistikler (frekans, yüzde, ortalama, standart sapma, medyan, minimum değer, maximum değer) SPSS 24.0 paket programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda ilk yardım eğitimi ile ilgili videoların güncel ve güvenilir olmadığı, yarısının sağlık profesyonelleri tarafından hazırlanmadığı, %64’ünde videoyu finanse eden kişi, kurum veya kuruluş hakkında bilgi verilirken %52’sinde reklam/tanıtım yapıldığı ortaya çıkmıştır. Videoların %90’ı “tamamlayıcılık’’ ilkesine uymaktadır ancak yalnızca %12’sinde referans kriterine uyulmuştur. Ayrıca videoların HONcode puan ortalamasının 28.9±35,471 olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak araştırma kapsamında incelenen videoların HONcode Kriterleri’ne uymadığı, video uzunluklarının ilk yardım eğitimi için yetersiz olduğu, video izlenme, yorum ve beğenme sayılarının düşük olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. Bu nedenle YouTube’da yer alan ilk yardım eğitimlerinin profesyoneller tarafından hazırlanması ve denetlenmesi gerektiği anlaşılmaktadır. Bu araştırma ile güvenli ve doğru sağlık içeriklerine erişim hakkında farkındalık sağlanması, işyerlerinde ilk yardım eğitiminin önemi ve eğitimde kullanılabilecek alternatif kaynakların değerlendirilmesine katkı sunulmaktadır.

Evaluation of First Aid Trainings in the Context of Occupational Health and Safety: Analysis of YouTube Videos

Abstract

In this study it is aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of first aid training videos on YouTube in the context of Occupational Health and Safety. For this reason, the 50 most viewed videos about first aid training on YouTube, which is the second most preferred social media platform at the present time have been examined. Videos have been evaluated according to the number of views, video length, number of likes, number of comments, video sharing dates and "HONcode Criteria". Descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, median, minimum value, maximum value) of the videos have been analyzed by using the SPSS 24.0 package program. As the result of the research, it has been revealed that the videos about first aid training were not up-to-date and reliable, half of them were not prepared by health professionals, while 64% of them provided information about the person, institution or organization that financed the video, 52% of them were advertised/promotional. 90% of the videos comply with the "complementarity" principle, but only 12% have complied with the reference criterion. Additionally, the average HONcode score of the videos have been determined to be 28.9±35.471. As the result, it has been revealed that the videos examined within the scope of the research did not comply with the HONcode Criteria, the length of the videos were insufficient for first aid training, and the number of video views, comments and likes were low. For this reason, it is understood that first aid trainings on YouTube should be prepared and supervised by professionals. With this research it is contributed to raise awareness about access to safe and accurate health content, the importance of first aid training in workplaces, and evaluation about alternative resources that can be used in training.
