Abstract

This study was conducted to assess the medication safety competence of nurses based on knowledge, skills and attitudes. This descriptive cross-sectional study was completed with the participation of 424 nurses working throughout Turkey. Descriptive characteristics questionnaire form and Medication Safety Competence Scale for Nurses were used to collect the research data. The data of the study were collected in electronic environment through online surveys created through Google forms. The mean total medication safety score of the participants was 158.7±16.84. As a result of this study, the medication safety competence of nurses was at a satisfactory level. In addition, it was found that nurses considered themselves competent in titles such as patient-centered medication management, improvement of safety problems, management of effecting factors, safe risk management, multidisciplinary collaboration and responsibility in nursing profession. It is important that nurses have a high level of competence in medicine safety, which is one of the important parameters in ensuring and maintaining patient safety. It is recommended that the study be conducted in different and larger samples, that long-term follow-ups be conducted with educational interventions and that the results be evaluated.

HEMŞİRELERİN İLAÇ GÜVENLİĞİ YETERLİLİĞİNİN DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

Year 2025, Volume: 13 Issue: 1, 114 - 128
https://doi.org/10.33715/inonusaglik.1381382
