Sağlıkta Erişimin Engelleri: Sakarya İlinde Görme Engellilerin Fiziksel ve Bilişsel Deneyimleri

Öz

Bu çalışma, Sakarya ilinde ikamet eden görme engelli bireylerin hastane hizmetlerine fiziksel ve bilişsel erişim deneyimlerini incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Araştırma kapsamında bilgiye erişim, yön bulma, sağlık personelinin desteği, teknolojik uygulamaların kullanılabilirliği ve mekânsal düzenlemeler gibi alanlarda karşılaşılan sorunlar ve hizmetlere ilişkin memnuniyet düzeyleri değerlendirilmiştir. Nitel araştırma yaklaşımıyla gerçekleştirilen çalışmada, 16 görme engelli birey ve 4 görme engelli dernek yöneticisi olmak üzere toplam 20 katılımcıyla derinlemesine görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Bulgular, katılımcıların hastane binalarında yön bulmayı kolaylaştıracak kılavuz izlerin ve Braille alfabeli bilgilendirme panolarının eksikliğinden ciddi şekilde etkilendiklerini göstermektedir. Ayrıca sesli rehberlik sistemleri ve dijital sağlık uygulamalarına erişimde yaşanan güçlükler, bilişsel erişimin önündeki temel engeller arasında yer almaktadır. Bunun yanı sıra sağlık personelinin görme engelli bireylerle etkili iletişim kurma ve yönlendirme konularında yeterli bilgi, beceri ve farkındalığa sahip olmadığı gözlemlenmiştir. Araştırma, hastane ortamlarının erişilebilirliğinin artırılması için fiziksel altyapı düzenlemeleri, kapsayıcı teknolojik çözümler ve sağlık personeline yönelik bilinçlendirme ve eğitim programlarının önemini vurgulamaktadır. Bu bağlamda çalışma, görme engelli bireylerin sağlık hizmetlerine bağımsız ve eşit koşullarda erişimini desteklerken, sağlık sisteminde toplumsal eşitlik ve kapsayıcılığın güçlendirilmesine de katkı sağlamaktadır.

Barriers To Access in Healthcare: Physical And Cognitive Experiences Of Visually Impaired Individuals In Sakarya Province

Öz

This study aims to examine the physical and cognitive access experiences of visually impaired individuals residing in Sakarya province to hospital services. The research evaluated problems encountered in areas such as access to information, wayfinding, support from healthcare personnel, the usability of technological applications, and spatial arrangements, as well as satisfaction levels with the services. Using a qualitative research approach, in-depth interviews were conducted with a total of 20 participants: 16 visually impaired individuals and 4 managers of visually impaired associations. The findings show that participants were significantly affected by the lack of guide signs and Braille information boards to facilitate wayfinding in hospital buildings. Furthermore, difficulties in accessing audio guidance systems and digital health applications were among the main obstacles to cognitive access. In addition, it was observed that healthcare personnel lacked sufficient knowledge, skills, and awareness in effectively communicating with and guiding visually impaired individuals. The research emphasizes the importance of physical infrastructure improvements, inclusive technological solutions, and awareness and training programs for healthcare personnel to increase the accessibility of hospital environments. In this context, the study supports independent and equal access to healthcare services for visually impaired individuals, while also contributing to strengthening social equality and inclusion in the healthcare system.
