Abstract
Born in 132 A'. H. (sometime between 749 and 750), and died relatively young, at the age of 57 years, in 189 A. H./805, the imam Muhammed Shaibani has rendered a service to legal selence to Müslim law in particular which is scarcely equalled and never surpassed in later history.
