Jinn occupied an important place in the Arab imagination. The imagination of mythological universe that the Arabs constructed with the jinn influenced both the poetry of the Jahiliyye (Ignorance) and the Islamic period, and many poems claimed to belong to the poets who spoke with the inspiration they received from the jinn or belong directly to the jinn were narrated. It was believed that there was a jinn who inspired and taught poetry to each of the famous poets of the Age of Ignorance. These poets, on the other hand, spoke up confirming this established belief, and mentioned the jinn they made friends with and inspired them, in their poems. Jinns, whose functions and purpose of creation were clearly revealed by Islam, preserved their form in the pagan Arab culture and maintained their influence on poetry and poets in the Islamic period, and continued to take place in the literature with many poems attributed to them.
