Author Guidelines

Manuscripts submitted for publication in the Itkan Journal for Academic Research must comply with the following requirements:

  • Itkan Journal for Academic Research publishes scholarly works in the field of Religious Studies (Social Sciences and Humanities/Religion), including research articles, book reviews, and symposium evaluation reports.
  • The journal accepts manuscripts prepared in Turkish, English, and Arabic. Manuscripts written in other languages may also be considered for publication upon approval by the Editorial Board.
  • Submitted manuscripts must fall within the journal's aims and scope.
  • Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. In addition, all authors must have approved both the content of the manuscript and its submission to the journal.
  • Manuscripts must be prepared in accordance with the journal's author guidelines.
  • The journal employs a double-blind peer review process.
  • All manuscripts submitted to the Journal are screened for similarity using plagiarism detection software before being sent for peer review. However, the Journal does not consider a fixed similarity percentage to be the sole determining criterion in editorial decision-making. Instead, the similarity report is evaluated comprehensively, taking into account the nature of the similarities, their sources, the context in which they appear, and their compliance with research ethics and accepted citation and referencing standards.
  • Manuscripts must include a Turkish abstract (Öz) and an English abstract, each consisting of 150–250 words, together with at least five keywords in both languages.
  • Page Layout: Manuscripts must be prepared on A4-sized pages with 2.5 cm margins on all sides. The first line of each paragraph should be indented by 1.25 cm.
  • Formatting: The main text and references must be written in Times New Roman, 12-point font. Headings should be in bold. Both the main text and footnotes should use single line spacing. Footnotes must be in the same font as the main text at 10-point size. Paragraph spacing should be set to Before: 0 pt; After: 0 pt. The abstracts should be in 10-point font. Arabic text must be written in Traditional Naskh, 12-point, with footnotes in 10-point.
  • Manuscripts that do not comply with the ISNAD Citation System will be returned to the author for revision. (https://www.isnadsistemi.org/en/)
  • After submission, no author's name may be removed from the list of authors, no new author may be added, and the order of authors may not be changed without the written consent of all authors.
  • Book reviews must include Turkish and English abstracts of 50–100 words each and a reference list containing at least one source, which may be the book under review.
  • Headings must follow the decimal numbering system.
  • The reference list must begin on a new page following the conclusion and must be formatted according to the ISNAD Citation System.
  • For studies requiring approval from an Ethics Committee, such approval must be obtained, and the committee's name, approval date, and approval number must be stated on the first page of the manuscript and in the methodology section. For further information, authors should consult the journal's Publication Ethics and Editorial Policy.
  • Manuscripts, including the reference list, must not exceed 9,000 words.
  • Only one manuscript per author may be considered for review in the same issue.
  • İtkan Journal for Academic Research does not charge authors any fees at any stage of the manuscript submission, evaluation, or publication process.
