The Musical Identity of Female Minstrels

Abstract

As well as the cultural environment in which the minstrels grown up, their environment of performances plays a major role in the formation of their musical identities and even gives them a new identity. In this study, cultural environment in which female minstrels have grown up and affiliated their performance environment have been considered as an important criterion determining the musical identities of them. Subjects which female minstrels handled, musical transfers specific to woman languages prepared a base to question musical identity of a manner specific to women. Relation of female minstrels with music, positioning socio-musical environment have been important in respect to constitute musical identity. The aim of study, to determine effects of performance environments to female minstrels music performance and specific women expressions and reveal a woman identity with these data.
