The Novel “Kilama Pepûgî (The Song of Cuckoo)” in the Context of the Folklore and Magic Realism That are Two Important Concepts of the Postmodern Age

In the 21st century described by many researchers as postmodern and the metanarratives lose their significance. One of the reflections of this intellectual change in literature is that writers tend to folklore. In the postmodern era also metaphysics, magic are prevalent. Authors begin to process magical realistic, fantasy elements in their works. In this context, it can be said that the novel Kilapa Pepûgî has been preserved in accordance with the spirit of the 21st century. In this article, it was determined that the novel was written in accordance with the spirit of its age by using folkloric and magical realistic elements in the novel. Myth of cuckoo; the narrative of the prophet of Solomon and hoopoe; the narrative of why the leaves of the iris look at the down are some of folkloric elements. It was also revealed that magical realism holds an important place in the work.

Bu çalışmada, Deniz Gündüz tarafından, 2000 yılında basılan ve ilk Zazaca roman olma özelliğine sahip Kilama Pepûgî adlı roman, folklor ve büyülü gerçekçilik açısından analiz edildi. Pepuk/guguk kuşu efsanesi; Süleyman peygamber ile hüthüt kuşu anlatısı; süsen çiçeğinin yapraklarının neden yere baktığına dair olan anlatı; halk arasında, soğuk günlerin bir dilimi için kullanılan “yaşlı kadının günleri/zamanı” deyiminin hangi anlatıdan hareketle türetildiği gibi anlatıların eserde kullanıldığı ortaya konuldu. Öte yandan eserde, Alevi inancında tavşan etini yemenin haram olması; on iki imam günleri ve on iki imam çorbası yani aşure; ayın, Hz. Ali’nin yüzünü sembolize ettiğine dair inanış; yumurtanın Ermeni inancındaki önemi; “vartevare/vartavar” denilen Ermeni bayramı; Hızır inancı; mistik kırk atlı; evlilik sürecine dair toplumsal ritüeller; kavgaların sona erdirilmesine dair toplumsal ritüeller gibi unsurların kullanıldığı tespit edildi. Büyülü gerçekçiliğin de eserde önemli yer tuttuğu ortaya konuldu. Bakil karakterinin bir melekle aşk yaşaması; göllerden çıkan büyüleyici atlar ve garip yaratıkların insanlarla yaşadıkları, bunlardan bazılarıdır.
