The Novel “Kilama Pepûgî (The Song of Cuckoo)” in the Context of the Folklore and Magic Realism That are Two Important Concepts of the Postmodern Age
Abstract
In the 21st century described by many researchers as postmodern and the metanarratives lose their significance. One of the reflections of this intellectual change in literature is that writers tend to folklore. In the postmodern era also metaphysics, magic are prevalent. Authors begin to process magical realistic, fantasy elements in their works. In this context, it can be said that the novel Kilapa Pepûgî has been preserved in accordance with the spirit of the 21st century. In this article, it was determined that the novel was written in accordance with the spirit of its age by using folkloric and magical realistic elements in the novel. Myth of cuckoo; the narrative of the prophet of Solomon and hoopoe; the narrative of why the leaves of the iris look at the down are some of folkloric elements. It was also revealed that magical realism holds an important place in the work.
