Aile İşletmelerinde Aile Üyelerinin Çatışma Yönetim Tarzlarının Aile Mantığı Çerçevesinde Değerlendirilmesi: Kuramsal Önerme Çalışması

Year 2021, , 1678 - 1699, 30.06.2021

Abstract

Evaluation of Conflict Management Styles of Family Members in Family Businesses in the Framework of Family Logic from Institutional Logic: Theoretical Proposition Study

Year 2021, , 1678 - 1699, 30.06.2021
https://doi.org/10.15869/itobiad.888671

Abstract

In this study, the conflict management styles of family members in family businesses are discussed within the framework of family logic, which is one of the institutional logics, and discussed on the basis of relevant studies in literature. Theoretical propositions are developed to be tested for researchers who will work on this research topic in the future. Family logic is an institutional logic which protects family interests, encompasses family norms, values and goals and affects the behavior of family businesses and their members. In this study, it is assumed that family logic may affect the conflict management styles of family members in family businesses. Also, conflicts are discussed under two groups as task and relationship conflicts and the family members’ conflict management styles against these conflicts are explained based on family logic literature. According to family logic literature, the effect of family logic on family businesses varies. Within the scope of this study, it is suggested that the level of family logic affecting organizations has a significant impact on compromising and accommodating behaviors of family members to end task conflicts and has a significant effect on avoiding behavior to end relationship conflicts. Discussions are made for these theoretical propositions. It is assumed that this study, with propositions that have not been made before in the literature, is important in terms of being a theoretical source that can be evaluated within the framework of conflict management styles and institutional logics for researchers who take family members as a sample. Furthermore, it is predicted that this study's handling of family logic and conflict management styles together will be useful both in contributing to family logic and conflict management literature, and also gaining an understanding that the impact of family logic on family businesses may be greater than it’s declared in current studies.
