An Introduction to writing with fundamental reading skills The aim of the article is to discuss the content of the lecture “Introduction to writing” and propose progressive techniques on this subject. The research is based on practices with the students of the german language and literature departement of İstanbul University. The profile of the students reflects that most have been born and educated (Hauptschule) in Germany, which does not prepare them for the university. As a result, their knowledge of the german language and especially with regard to writing is not sufficent. I arranged the content of the lecture taking into account mainly the necessitiy of writing at the university. The students are oriented to taking notes in a course or lecture with particular focus on syntactic patterns and to summerizing texts that have been evaluated in accordance with fundamental reading skills
