ART NOUVEAU AKIMININ RUS SANAT DÜNYASINDA YORUMLANMASI: RUS STİLİ

Year 2018, Issue: 9, 241 - 251, 12.12.2018

Abstract

ART NOUVEAU INTERPRETATION IN RUSSIAN WORLD OF ART: RUSSIAN STYLE

Year 2018, Issue: 9, 241 - 251, 12.12.2018

Abstract

Art Nouveau, which means ‘new art’ in French, is a trend that became popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, characterized by the use of curvy lines, intense plant motifs and elegant animal patterns in art and design. In this study, the artistic understanding of the Mir iskusstva / World of Art school consisting of the Russian representatives of the Art Nouveau movement and their magazine was discussed. Art Nouveau representatives have agreed on basic aesthetic values in different countries. However, it is inspired by local elements in search of preserving national values, bringing together traditional lines of art with modern lines. In this study, it is concluded that this initiative in Russia originated a separate style, which is called ‘Russian style’.
