This work presents a comparative analysis of Dirac, H.264 and HEVC video codecs. Encoding file sizes, Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR), Structural Similarity Index Metric (SSIM) measurements and encoding times are compared. Akiyo, Stefan and Caesar video sequences are used for comparisons. This work enhances previous studies on the performance comparison of the three codecs, by providing comparison results at Variable Bit Rates (VBR).
