Abstract
Pier Paolo Pasolini ve Alberto Moravia, Hindistan'dan iki unutulmaz röportaj ile, sırasıyla "L'odore dell'India" ve "L'idea dell'India", yaygın ve sınırsız seyahat edebiyatına katkıda bulunmaktadır. Hindistan, yazarların eleştirel mercekleri aracılığıyla, yüzleşme ve yansıma için önemli bir kaynaktır. Aşırı nüfus, sosyal tabakalaşma, kültürel ve dini miras, sefalet ve hızlı gelişme gibi unsurlar batılı gezginleri hem büyülemekte hem de tedirgin etmekte ciddi bir rol oynamaktadır. Geçmişin ve şimdiki zamanın buluştuğu "dünyanın beşiği"ne gerçekleşen bu yolculukta, gazeteci ve arkadaş olan iki İtalyan aydın, kendi deneyimlerini birbirini tamamlayıcı bir şekilde sunmaktadırlar. Pasolini, Öteki ile sosyal ya da duygusal filtreler olmadan karşılaşarak, Üçüncü Dünya ülkesinin içinde dalıyor; Moravia, ise, Ötekilik ve Öteki'ye daha mantıklı bir tutum ile yaklaşıyor. Gerçekliğinin yapısını söküp var olduğu konumundan uzaklaştıran Pasolini "seyyah-karakter", Moravia ise "seyyah-anlatıcı" rolünü üstlenmektedir. Yazma stilleri kendi yaklaşımlarım yansıtmaktadır. "L'Odore", öznellik ile yoğrulmuş bir "seyahat-gezi"; "L'idea", ise, felsefi, dini ve ideolojik düşünceler ile zenginleştirilmiş bir "seyahat-inceleme" eseri olarak değerlendirilebilir. Bu çalışma, anahtar terimi olan "seyahat" ve onun yazılı kayıtlarının özlü bir tanımından sonra, Hindistan hakkında genel gözlemler sunmakta ve özellikle 1960'farda Hindistan'ın büyüleyici ama rahatsız edici portresini yansıtarak iki kitabın analizi üzerinde yoğunlaşmaktadır.

Abstract
Pier Paolo Pasolini and Alberto Moravia contribute to the widespread and everlasting travel writing genre with two memorable reportages from India, respectively "The Scent of India" and "The Idea of India". India, through the writers' critical lenses, becomes the means for confrontation and reflection. Overpopulation, social stratification, cultural and religious heritage, pauperism and the sought progress are all key elements that play an extensive, dual role in fascinating and unsettling the Western travelers. The two Italian intellectuals, reporters and friends in this trip to the "cradle of the world" where past and present meet, interpret and present their experiences in two complementary ways: Pasolini plunges into the Third World country encountering the Other without social or emotional filters; whereas, Moravia approaches the Otherness and the Other with a more rational attitude. Deconstructing and decontextualizing their reality, Pasolini becomes the "traveler-character" and Moravia the "traveler-narrator". Their styles of writing reflect their approaches, "The Scent" becomes a "journey-itinerary" imbued with subjectivity and ''The Idea" a "journey-treatise" enriched with philosophical, religious and ideological considerations. This paper, after a concise definition of the key term "travel" and its accounts, provides some general observations about the India of those times and mainly concentrates on the analysis of the two books which convey a captivating but disquieting portrait of India in the 1960s.
