Abstract
In 1954 Tecnos Publishing House of Madrid published a short novel by Carmen Laforet titled El viaje divertido (The Fun Trip). The novel was soon forgotten until 1970, when it was rescued from oblivion and published again along with other novellas and ten short stories in the book La nina y otros relatos (The Girl and Other Stories). In the prologue the author herself explained that all of those works had been written because of certain editorial commitments, and that in particular El viaje divertido was inspired by an anecdote she heard about, and wrote in the form of a novella after a while. The story is basically about a trip that the protagonist, Elisa, makes to Madrid in the company of her sister-in-law, Rosa. This trip ends as a voyage of self discovery that, after some unexpected findings and personal events, will take Elisa to a radical transformation.

Carmen Laforet 1954 yılında Madrid'in Tecnos Yayınevi'nden El viaje divertido (Eğlenceli seyahat) adlı bir kısa roman yayınladı. 1970 'e kadar kısa sürede unutulan roman, ancak kısa romanların ve on kısa öykünün bulunduğu La nina y otros relatos (Kız ve Diğer Öykülar) adlı kitabın yayınlanmasıyla yeniden basıldı ve unutulmaktan kurtuldu. Bu kitabın önsözünde, yazarın kendisi tüm o eserlerin yayınevlerinin isteğiyle yazıldığını ve El viaje divertido’yu anlatıldığını duyduğu kısa bir anektottan yola çıkarak, zihninde kalanlar doğrultusunda kısa bir romana dönüştürdüğünü belirtmiştir. Öykü temelde başkahraman Elisa'nın, görümcesi Rosa'nın eşliğinde Madrid'e yaptıkları bir yolculuğa dayanmaktadır. Bu seyahat kendini keşfetmeye doğru yapılan bir yolculukla sonlanmakta, beklenmeyen bazı sonuçların ve kişisel olayların ardından, Elisa'yı kökten bir dönüşüme sürüklemektedir.
