The aim of this article is to appreciate the sociological review of the literary texts and to examine Sultan Hamid Düşerken novel in terms of social and political change in the second constitutional era. This era is one of the turning points of Turkish society in terms of the changes brought about in social life as well as in political life. With the dissolution of the sacred will of the Sultan, activities and mobility of the individuals in social life had increased. Nahid Sırrı Örik’s realistic approach provides us possibilities in the direction of understanding new individual emerged in society by reproducing this change in the concrete life of individuals. This type of individual can be named as modern individual of an open and rational society unattached from the old ties. In this article, the characters and the events of the novel has been examined in terms of their relationships with modern society.
