Stafne Kemik Kavitesi: İki Olgu Sunumu

Year 2020, Volume: 3 Issue: 1, 1 - 8, 12.08.2020

Abstract

Stafne Bone Cavity: Two Case Reports

Year 2020, Volume: 3 Issue: 1, 1 - 8, 12.08.2020

Abstract

Stafne bone cavity (SBC) was first described by Stafne in 1942. (SBC) is a developmental anomaly represented by a bone concavity generally containing salivary gland tissue. SBC are round or ovoid, well-defined radiolucent located at the lingual cortex of mandible, below the inferior alveolar canal, mostly near the angle. These lesions is usually found incidentally during routine radiographic examinations. These lesions is asymptomatic. It is frequently seen in males 5th and 7th decades of life. Panoramic Radiography (PR) and Computed Tomography (CT) are used to diagnose stafne bone cavity. Treatment is conservative based on periodic controls. In this study, the clinical and radiological characteristics of 2 cases of Stafne bone cavity were described.
