New diet approaches in irritable bowel syndrome

Year 2019, Volume: 1 Issue: 1, 1 - 6, 13.03.2019

Abstract

Irritable
bowel syndrome (IBS) is a functional bowel disease characterized by a change in
intestinal motility, the cause of which is unknown. The incidence of IBS in
societies varies between 10-25%. IBS, which is not a life-threatening disease,
has many symptoms, such as abdominal pain or discomfort in the abdomen,
diarrhea, constipation and bloating, which significantly affect the quality of
life. Since IBS is idiopathic, treatment with IBS is designed to alleviate
symptoms. All these symptoms, which greatly affect the quality of life, can be
exacerbated or diminished depending on the individual's eating habits. In this
review, it is aimed to provide an overview of nutritional therapy and current
nutritional therapy approaches in irritable bowel syndrome. For this purpose,
the efficacy of FODMAPs diet, vitamin D, prebiotic and probiotic supplements in
IBS nutritional therapy was investigated.

İrritable Bağırsak Sendromunda Güncel Diyet Yaklaşımları

Year 2019, Volume: 1 Issue: 1, 1 - 6, 13.03.2019

Abstract

hafifleyebilmektedir. Bu derlemede, irritable bağırsak sendromunda beslenme
tedavisinin öneminin ve güncel beslenme tedavisi yaklaşımlarının ortaya konması
amaçlanmaktadır. Bu amaçla İBS beslenme tedavisinde FODMAPs diyeti, D vitamini,
prebiyotik ve probiyotik takviyelerinin etkinliği incelenmiştir.
