The writings of white authors when it comes to Indigenous-colonizer relationships have historically focused on the Europeans that have gone to the Americas. On Savage Shores by Caroline Dodds Pennock decides to flip the tables and focuses on the Indigenous people that have been brought from the Americas to Europe from the fifteenth to the seventeenth centuries. It offers a fresh new look that challenges the readers to reconsider some of their pre-conceived notions about European-Indigenous relations throughout the first few centuries of the European colonization and invites them to reconsider Indigenous agency and how some of them viewed the “discovery” of the Americas.
