Koruyucu Demir Tedavisi Her Çocuk İçin Gerekli mi?

Abstract

Amaç: Demir eksikliği gelişim çağındaki çocukları ciddi şekilde etkilemektedir. Buna bağlı olarak fiziksel ve bilişsel gelişimde geri dönüşümsüz kayıplar olabilmektedir. Yenidoğanların serum demir düzeylerini etkileyen en önemli faktör, annenin demir durumudur. Doğurganlık çağındaki kadınlarda sık görülen demir eksikliği gebelikle birlikte ağırlaşmakta, sonuç olarak yenidoğanlar düşük demir düzeyleri ile hayata başlamaktadır. Bu olumsuzluğu engellemek için ülkemizde dört ayını doldurmuş bebeklere koruyucu demir tedavisi başlanmaktadır.Oral yoldan verilen demir preparatları hasta uyumu düşük ilaçlardır. Bu çalışmamızda yenidoğanlarda ve dördüncü ayda alınan kan örneklerinde demir düzeylerini karşılaştırdık. dördüncü ayda koruyucu tedavi gerektirmeyecek demir düzeyini garanti edebilecek kord kanı demir düzeyini tespit etmeye çalıştık. Koruyucu tedavinin sadece riskli hastalara verilmesi bu şekilde tedavi maliyetlerinin düşürülmesi ve hasta uyumunun artırılmasına katkıda bulunmayı amaçladık. Gereç ve Yöntemler: İleriye dönük olarak planlanan bu çalışmaya 11.02.2013-16.03.2013 tarihleri arasında hastanemizde doğmuş bebekler dâhil edilmiştir. Bebeklerden doğumda ve dördüncü ayda kan alınarak serum demir düzeyi tespit edildi. Korelasyon testleri kullanılarak kord kanı demir düzeyi ve dördüncü ay kan demir düzeyi arasındaki korelasyon varlığı araştırıldı. Is it Necessary to Use Protective Iron Therapy for Every Child

Abstract

Introduction: Iron deficiency affects the children during their developmental stage. Iron deficiency could cause serious and irreversible losses in children’s physical and cognitive development. The most important factor affecting newborns’ serum iron levels is maternal iron status. Iron deficiency in women of childbearing age could be aggravated by pregnancy,as a result of these newborns begin life with lower iron levels. To prevent this negativity in our country babies who have completed four months are started on protective iron therapy. Orally administered iron preparations are drugs that lower patient compliance. In our study, we compared iron levels of blood samples taken in neonates and after 4 months. We tried to identify the level of the cord blood iron level that can guarantee healthy iron levels and does not require preventive treatment of 4-month- babies. We aimed to find the children at risk, by this way we aimed to contribute to lowering the cost of treatment and also increase patient compliance. Materials and Methods: This prospectively designed study included babies born in our hospital between 11.02.2013- 16.03.2013.
