Publication Ethics
Journal of Children’s Literature and Language Education is an international peer-reviewed journal committed to publishing high-quality scientific research in the fields of children’s literature, literature education, and language education. The journal operates in accordance with internationally recognized publication ethics standards and adheres to the principles and guidelines established by relevant ethical committees.
All manuscripts submitted to the journal are evaluated through a double-blind peer-review process, in which neither authors nor reviewers are aware of each other’s identities. Manuscripts accepted following the evaluation process are published electronically under an open-access policy.
All stakeholders involved in the publication process—including publishers, editors, assistant editors, field editors, authors, reviewers, and readers—are expected to comply with established ethical principles. The responsibilities of each party are outlined below.
Editorial Board Responsibilities
The Editorial Board of Journal of Children’s Literature and Language Education:
Assumes full responsibility for all manuscripts submitted to the journal and acts with integrity, independence, and objectivity in decision-making.
Maintains editorial independence from the publisher and any external individuals or organizations.
Strives to continuously improve the journal’s academic quality and publication standards.
Establishes and implements journal policies, including those related to peer review, publication ethics, and editorial procedures.
Safeguards the intellectual property rights and copyrights of authors.
Ensures that the peer-review process is conducted fairly, transparently, and efficiently.
Promotes diversity and expansion of the reviewer pool to maintain high scholarly standards.
Protects personal data and upholds human rights in all published content.
Addresses complaints, appeals, and ethical concerns in a transparent and accountable manner.
Takes necessary action in cases of ethical violations, including rejection, correction, retraction, or publication of clarifications when required.
Ethical Responsibilities of Editors (Editors-in-Chief, Assistant Editors, and Field Editors)
Editors:
Evaluate submissions objectively and solely on the basis of scholarly merit, originality, relevance, and clarity.
Ensure that only original and scientifically valuable manuscripts are published.
May reject manuscripts at the preliminary review stage if they fall outside the journal’s scope, lack originality, or fail to meet academic standards.
Base final publication decisions primarily on reviewers’ evaluations and do not alter reviewer decisions unless there is clear evidence of error or ethical concern.
Preserve the confidentiality of the peer-review process and do not disclose reviewer identities.
Exclude non-scientific, inappropriate, or unethical reviewer comments from consideration.
Require documentation of ethics committee approval and research permissions where applicable; manuscripts lacking required approvals are rejected.
Ensure that errors, inconsistencies, or ethical concerns identified post-publication are corrected appropriately.
Provide authors with the opportunity to respond to substantial criticisms.
Communicate effectively with all participants in the publication process and facilitate editorial coordination.
Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
The journal applies a double-blind peer-review system. Reviewers are expected to:
Accept review assignments only within their areas of expertise.
Conduct evaluations impartially, objectively, and confidentially.
Decline review invitations in cases of conflict of interest.
Provide constructive, respectful, and academically grounded feedback.
Refrain from personal criticism and maintain professional language.
Complete reviews within the designated timeframe (responding within 7 days and submitting evaluations within 15 days of acceptance).
Delete manuscript files and related materials after completing the review process.
Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
Authors submitting manuscripts to the Journal of Children’s Literature and Language Education must:
Submit only original work that has not been published elsewhere or submitted simultaneously to another journal.
Accurately and appropriately cite all sources used in their work.
Ensure that only individuals who have made substantial contributions are listed as authors.
Disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
Complete and submit the journal’s Copyright Transfer Form.
Provide documentation of data usage rights and necessary permissions.
Obtain and clearly state ethics committee approval where required (e.g., for experimental studies, surveys, interviews, observations, focus group studies, or research involving human or animal subjects).
Confirm that informed consent was obtained when required and that research was conducted in accordance with international ethical standards.
Inform the editors promptly if a significant error is identified in their published or submitted work and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article when necessary.
Provide requested data or documentation during the review process when asked by editors.
Reporting Ethical Concerns
