INTERNALIZATION OF TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT AND INNOVATION PROCESS: AN EVALUATION IN TERMS OF EVOLUTIONARY DYNAMICS

Yıl 2025, Cilt: 7 Sayı: 1, 22 - 45, 05.05.2025

Öz

Evolutionary theory has revealed that technological change is a field of research that should be examined through evolutionary concepts, and has striven to internalize the relevant processes. This approach models technological development and innovation phenomena based on concepts that can lead to non-equilibrium situations such as uncertainty, change, bounded rationality, path dependence, cumulative learning, heterogeneity and natural selection. In doing so, it is determined that the relevant processes have micro dynamics and are embedded in institutional structures. In light of all this, this study reveals that evolutionary approaches develop a different style of analysis than the New Growth Theories, which tried to internalize R&D and innovation in the same years, and go beyond simple causality relations. Thus, it is understood that technological development and innovation occur as a result of numerous intertwined mechanisms and interactions.
