Abstract

Osmanlı Devleti, 1877-1878 Osmanlı-Rus Savaşı'nı kaybetti. Rusya'ya karşı Osmanlı Devleti'ni desteklemek üzere, Kıbrıs 1878'de İngiltere ile Kıbrıs Konvansiyonu imzalanarak, İngiltere'ye kiralandı. I. Dünya Savaşı'nda, İngiltere Kıbrıs'ı ilhak etti. 1923'te Lozan Barış Antlaşması ile Kıbrıs'ın İngiltere ilhakı tanındı. Çalışmanın amacı, 1878-1922 yılları arasında, Kıbrıs dış ticaretinin gelişimi ve Türkiye ile arasındaki dış ticaretteki değişimlerin belirlenebilmesidir. İlk bölümde Kıbrıs dış ticareti, ülke dağılımı, ticari ürünler; ikinci bölümde Kıbrıs-Türkiye arasındaki dış ticarete ait bilgiler verilecek ve değerlendirilecektir. Çalışmanın kaynakları; İngiliz resmi raporları ve istatistikleridir. Bu verilerin değerlendirilmesinde istatistiksel yöntemler kullanılacaktır. Çalışmanın sonucunda, 1878-1922 döneminde Kıbrıs dış ticaretinin arttığı, Kıbrıs Türkiye dış ticaretinin düştüğü belirlenmiştir.

The Development of Cyprus Foreign Trade Under the British Rule and The Change in Foreign Trade Between Cyprus and Turkey (1878-1922)

Abstract

The Ottoman Empire lost the Ottoman-Russian War of 1877-1878. In order to support the Ottoman Empire against Russia, Cyprus was leased to England by signing the Cyprus Convention with England in 1878. In World War I, Britain annexed Cyprus. In 1923, the British annexation of Cyprus was recognized with the Lausanne Peace Treaty. The purpose of the study is to determine the development of Cyprus' foreign trade and the changes in its foreign trade with Turkey between 1878 and 1922. In the first part, Cyprus foreign trade, country distribution, commercial products; In the second part, information about the foreign trade between Cyprus and Türkiye will be given and evaluated. Sources of the study; British official reports and statistics. Statistical methods will be used to evaluate this data. As a result of the study, it was found that Cyprus foreign trade increased in the period 1878-1922; It has been determined that Cyprus-Türkiye foreign trade has decreased.
