Büyük Sincanlı (Sinanpaşa)
plain is located in the Central Anatolia Region and west of the Afyonkarahisar
province. The basin is the beginning and the sub-basin of the Akarçay Basin,
which is one of 26 large-scale hydrological basins in Turkey. The rocks are
comprised dolomite, dolomitic limestone and crystallized limestones deposited
during Middle Triassic-Jurassic at the base of the study area. Cover rocks are
the terrestrial sedimentation of Neogene, which is comprised fluvial,
lacustrine, alluvial deposits with volcanic. In this context, water spring
samples were taken from 6 different locations to represent the plain and
hydrochemical evaluation of the waters was carried out. Spring waters in the
basin have CaMgHCO3facies. According to the Schoeller drinkability
diagram, spring waters in the basin are classified as "very good-good
quality” waters and in terms of irrigation water quality evaluation are “C1S1-C2S1”
classified. Ammonia concentration increase (0.04mg/l) is observed due to
agricultural chemicals and fertilizers used in agricultural activities in the
Yağpınarı spring. According to trace element analysis results, no negative
effect was found except for As increase in Kılınçaslan spring. The increase in
arsenic concentration was assessed due to volcanic rocks spreading in the
recharge area of the Kılınçaslan spring.
