ATIK BİTKİSEL YEMEKLİK YAĞLARIN SAF BİTÜM ÖZELLİKLERİNE ETKİSİNİN ARAŞTIRILMASI

Abstract

Bitkisel

INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECT OF WASTE VEGETABLE COOKING OILS ON THE PROPERTIES OF NEAT BITUMEN

Abstract

Vegetable edible oils are one of the basic nutritional
elements of people. Not only in Turkey but all over the world human population
is increasing every day this leads to the emergence of a human community that
needs more basic nutrients. The increase in the amount of fat used by people leads
to the problem of waste vegetable oils (WVOs) which is naturally present in the
dangerous waste class. In cases where collection, transfer and disposal are not
ensured by the methods prescribed by the directives, it can cause serious
environmental problems for towns and their administrators. In this study, an
alternative approach to the disposal methods of WVOs was made and the
availability as an additive ingredient in neat bitumen and the effect on the
bituminous properties of WVOs were investigated. In this context, bitumen with
a penetration class of 70/100 and WVO were supplied. 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 % (by
weight of bitumen) WVOs were added to the bitumen, this mixture was stirred
with a standard method to obtain homogeneity. Standard tests such as penetration,
softening point, glare point, durability and rotary viscometer at two different
temperatures were applied to WVO added bitumen and neat bitumen samples. As a
result, it has been observed that WVOs significantly altered bitumen
properties.
