Abstract
In this study, applying to a physician, self-medication habits of the students of Ankara University have been studied in the period of december april of the 1991-1992 academic year The study Population was formed by the first and fourth year
students of the faculties of the University. The purpose of this preference
was to follow the possible change according to the years. The
inquqry has been carried out to 1078 student who were chosen with
simple random and stratified sampling methods from 15.459 students
that was study population.

test has been used for evaluation of the data of the study.
According to the results, 35.2 % of the students have not been applied
to a physician in last 6 months. 48.4 % of the students prefer
to apply to a physicion in simple sufferings but 39.3 % of them
apply in emergency cases. In general, 90 2 % of the students use
drugs without prescription. 63.0 % of these drugs are analgesics,
12.5 % of them are antigribals, 9.7 % of them are vitamins, 4.5 %
are antibiotics and 0.5 % of them are psycogic agents.
