A Study of Developing a Guide: Kangaroo Care

Year 2023, Volume: 5 Issue: 3, 402 - 420, 25.12.2023

Abstract

Purpose : The aim of this study was to develop a Kangaroo Care (KC) "Kangaroo care in the infant with/without endotracheal tube" guide to be used in the clinic in line with the literature and expert opinion by taking Larrabee's model into consideration.
Method: The study was a methodological research. Seven expert opinions on the draft guideline were evaluated. The expert opinion form and the draft Kangaroo Care Guide were used as data collection tools. Content validity ratio (CVR) and Content Validity Index (CVI) were used to evaluate the expert opinions.
Results: The Content Validity Index (CVI) of expert opinions was 0.95. Of the 67 items in the guide, 46 items had a CVR of +1, 18 items had a CVR of +0.71, and 3 items had a CVR of +0.42. Items with a CSR of +1 were accepted.
Conclusion and Suggestions: As a result of the study, the "kangaroo care in infants with/without endotracheal tube" guide was created in line with Larrabee's model. The guide included items related to preparation, implementation and recording steps. The kangaroo care guide developed in this study is expected to contribute to more effective and standardized implementation of kangaroo care in neonatal intensive care units.

Bir Rehber Geliştirme Çalışması: Kanguru Bakımı

Year 2023, Volume: 5 Issue: 3, 402 - 420, 25.12.2023
