Evaluation Of The Toxoplasma Gondii Seroprevalence Among Pregnant Women In Ordu

Abstract

Aim: To determine the presence of anti- T. gondii IgM and anti- T. gondii IgG antibodies and determination of toxoplasma seropositivity among pregnant women in Ordu province.Material and Methods: 2791 serum samples were taken from the pregnant women at 14-46 years old which were admitted to gynecology and obstetrics polyclinic in one year. These samples was studied by ELISA method for anti- T. gondii IgM and anti- T. gondii IgG antibodies and results were evaluated retrospectively.Results: In our study seropositivity for anti- T. gondii IgG and anti- T. gondii IgM antibody were found 27.6% and 1.6% respectively. For ages 14-19, 20-29, 30-39 and 40-46 seropositivity rates are; 6.3%, 46%, 44% and 3.7% respectively.Conclusion: T. gondii infection rate is ranged from 10-80% due to differences between climate, diet and hygiene habits according to the countries and regions. Ordu İlindeki Gebelerde Toxoplasma Gondii Seroprevalansının Değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Amaç: Ordu ilindeki gebe kadınlarda, anti-T.gondii IgM ve IgG antikor varlığının saptanması ile bu grupta toksoplazma sero pozitifliğinin belirlenmesi.Gereç ve Yöntemler: 1 yıllık süreçte hastanemizin kadın hastalıkları ve doğum polikliniğine başvuran, 14-46 yaş arası 2791 gebe kadının serum örnekleri alınarak, anti-T.gondii IgM ve IgG antikorları ELISA yöntemi ile çalışıldı. Bu sonuçlar retrospektif olarak değerlendirildi.Bulgular: Çalışmamızda anti-T.gondii IgG veanti-T.gondii IgM antikorlarının seropozitiflik yüzdesi sırası ile %27,6 ve %1,6 olarak saptanmıştır. Seropozitivitenin 14-19, 20-29, 30-39 ve 40-46 yaşlar için sırasıyla; %6,3, %46, %44 ve %3,7 olduğu tespit edilmiştir.Sonuç: T.gondii enfeksiyon hızı, iklim, beslenme ve hijyen alışkanlıklarındaki farklılıklar nedeniyle ülkelere ve bölgelere göre %10-80 arasında değişmektedir. Çalışmamızda gebelerde toksoplazma sero negatiflik oranı yüksek bulunmuştur.
