Metacognition And Anxiety In Women Who Seek Infertility Treatment

Abstract

Aim: We aimed to search the prevelance of anxiety sypmtoms among infertiles and its relationship with metacognition.Material and Methods: After evaluating the sociodemographic data and gynecologic assessment, infertile patients underwent anxiety and metacognition questionnaire.Results: There were no significant relationships among metacognition scale and its subscales with infertility duration and childlessness. Not state but trait anxiety was increased with increasing infertility duration. Trait anxiety scores of patients with infertility shorter than 2 years was 39,62 and longer than 2 years was 45,37 p=0,040 .Conclusion: Our study is the first study that shows that the increment of the infertility duration causes increase in the anxiety of the patients. Moreover it is the first study that links metacognition and infertility and the anxiety of the infertile patients. Large sample sized studies must be designed to clarify the relationship between the infertility and metacognitive functions.

İnfertilite Tedavisi İçin Başvuran Hastalarda Üstbiliş İşlevleri ve Anksiyete

Abstract

Giriş: İnfertil hastalarda anksiyete semptomlarının yaygınlığını ve üstbiliş işlevlerini değerlendirmeyi amaçladık.Gereç ve Yöntemler: İnfertilite tedavisi için başvuran hastaların sosyo-demografik verileri ve kadın doğum açısından değerlendirmeleri yapıldıktan sonra hastalara anksiyete düzeylerini ölçmek için anksiyete ölçeği ve üstbiliş değerlendirmesi için Üstbiliş Ölçeği-30 doldurtuldu.Bulgular: Üstbiliş ölçeği ve alt ölçekleriyle infertilitenin süresi ve hastanın yaşayan çocuğunun olup olmaması arasında istatistiki olarak anlamlı bir ilişki bulunamamıştır. Hastanın durumluk anksiyetesinin değil ama sürekli anksiyetesinin ise infertilite süresi uzadığında arttığı izlenmiştir. Sürekli anksiyete ölçeği 2 yıl ve daha kısa süreli infertilitesi olanlarda 39,62 iken 2 yıldan daha uzun süredir infertil olgularda 45,37 idi p=0,040 .Sonuç: Çalışmamız infertilitenin süresi arttıkça anksiyetenin arttığını gösteren literatürdeki ilk çalışmadır. Ayrıca üstbilişin infertilite ve infertillerin anksiyetesiyle ilişkili olabileceğini gösteren ilk çalışmadır. Daha geniş çaplı çalışmalarla infertil hastaların üstbiliş fonksiyonları değerlendirilmelidir.
