Antenatal Diagnosis of Thoracopagus Conjoined Twins: A Case Report

Abstract

Conjoined twins are complex complication of monozygotic twinning. Prevalence has been previously estimated to be 1 in 50,000 to 1 in 100,000 live births. The more common types of conjoined twins include the thoracopagus type, where the fusion is ventral, and involves the heart. Early prenatal diagnosis and assessment may provide a window of opportunity to counsel the family for their informed decision on the pregnancy. We presented an extremely rare case of thoracopagus with single heart.

Torakopagus Yapışık İkizlerin Antenatal Tanısı: Olgu Sunumu

Abstract

Yapışık ikiz gebelik, monozigotik ikiz gebeliğin kompleks bir formudur. Prevalansı, 50.000 ile 100.000 canlı doğumda bir izlenir. En sık rastlanan şekli Torakopagus olarak adlandırılan, ventral birleşmenin olduğu ve kalbi içeren tipidir. Erken prenatal tanı ve değerlendirme yapılması, ailenin bilgilendirilmesi ve gebeliğin akıbeti konusunda karar vermesine olanak sağlar. Bu yazıda oldukça nadir görülen ve tek bir kalbe sahip Torakopagus olgusunu sunuyoruz.
