Effect Of Intrauterine Device And Chronic Disease On Cervical Cytology

Year 2015, Volume: 12 Issue: 3, 110 - 113, 01.05.2015

Abstract

Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate the association between PAP smear results and the parameters such as IUD use, chronic disease, educational status, parity and age among the woman who applied to Bozok University Medical School obstetrics and gynecology department.Material and Methods: PAP smear results of 432 patients between 2011-2013 years were evaluated. Age, parity, and educational status of the patients and the precence of chronic diseasees hypertension, diabetes, asthma, congestive heart failure, hypercholesterolemia, goiter of patients were recorded. IUD use was also noted. Smear results were evaluated according to the 2001 Bethesda system. Results: Smears were obtained from 432 patients. Median age, gravity and parity of patients were 43.1 years 18-84 , 4.1 0-15 and 3.05 0-13 respectively. 415 of 432 smears were evaluated as a ILM - negative for intraepithelial lesion or malignancy . Among these ILM - smears them 67% were ILM - inflammatory, 30 of them were 7.6% ILM - atrophic and 91 of them were only ILM - . 17 smears were evaluated as ILM + ; 1 0.2% ASCUS, 8 ‘i 1.7% ASC-H, 5 1.2% LGSIL and 3 0.7% HGSIL. IUD use was found as an effective parameters on abnormal smear results. p = 0.03 .Conclusion: There was a correlation between abnormal smear results and IUD use, no association was found with chronic disease.

Rahim İçi Araç ve Kronik Hastalıkların Servikal Sitolojiye Etkisi

Year 2015, Volume: 12 Issue: 3, 110 - 113, 01.05.2015

Abstract

Alınan smearlerden 415’i ILM - intraepitelyal lezyon veya malignite yönünden negatif saptandı. Bunların içerisinden 294’ü % 67 ILM - inflamasyonlu, 30’u %7.6 ILM - atrofik geri kalan 91’ i yalnızca ILM - idi. Geriye kalan ILM + 17 smearden 1’i %0.2 ASCUS, 8 ‘i %1.7 ASC-H, 5 %1.2 LGSIL, 3’ü %0.7 HGSIL olarak değerlendirildi.
